Short description Overview   Estradiol Valerate USP is a form of estrogen used to treat the symptoms of menopause in women. The drug is used to treat such symptoms as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, irritation and burning. The drug may also be prescribed to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and for estrogen replacement in women with conditions that cause the lack of natural estrogen such as ovarian failure. Estradiol may also be used in part for the treatment of cancer in both men and women.   Estradiol Valerate USP contains a hormone that is similar to the estrogen hormone. During menopause, the production of estrogen in women reduces. This can cause symptoms such as night sweats, vagina dryness and hot flushes. This drug treats these conditions by replacing the low levels of estrogen.   Estradiol Valerate USP cannot be used to prevent stroke, heart disease or dementia. It increases the risk of developing these conditions.
